Braintree District Council have Community Transport Schemes (Social Car Scheme & Dial-a-Ride) which may be a cheaper alternative for people. Joining cost is £23, a journey costs £4.00 for up to 5 miles or 80p per mile if your journey is over 5 miles. Social Car Scheme is for anyone and Dial-a-Ride is for people who need transport with wheelchair access which hae hand rails, low entry steps and a tail lift.
