Brief overview of the town

Halstead is the smallest market town in the Braintree District (of the three towns, Braintree, Witham and Halstead) and is just under half the population size of Witham and a quarter of the population size of Braintree & Bocking. 

Halstead is situated on the A131 between Braintree and Sudbury and is located just slightly north-east from the centre of the Braintree District.

The population of Halstead is 11,906 (Census 2011).
