“We’re proud to have played our part in unlocking this employment site to investment and growth and we’re thrilled with how our work with partners is supporting medium-sized businesses."

Construction work has finished on nine commercial units at the Horizon 120 Business, Innovation and Logistics Park in Great Notley, Braintree.

EOS, a new high-quality, best in class development of nine units ranging from 8,540 sq ft to 21,045 sq ft and suitable for light industrial, high-tech, research and development and warehouse use, has reached practical completion.

This development is a benchmark for sustainability, quality and design, achieving Energy Performance Certificate A and BREEAM Very Good accreditations.  At least 30% of the energy supplied to the buildings will be from a renewable source, such as from solar panels, air source heat pumps, highly efficient thermal cladding and low energy lighting and controls.

Councillors and senior officers met with owners of The Marshgate Group to celebrate the milestone this week.

The EOS development, acquired by investment company Nuveen, forms part of the 65-acre Horizon 120 Business, Innovation and Logistics Park. The park is a major regional development project which is intended to provide in excess of 750,000 sq ft of high-quality industrial, office and logistics space.

David Warburton, Managing Director from The Marshgate Group, said: “A fantastic new high-quality, best in class development at Horizon 120 Business and Innovation Park in Braintree. I wish to extend my thanks to Readie Construction for making this happen and congratulations to Nuveen on the new acquisition. Yet another huge milestone reached for Horizon 120”.

Braintree District Council purchased the Horizon 120 site just over four and a half years ago with the aim of creating an employment site fit for the future which attracts new businesses into the district and creates high quality jobs.

The Council sold the plots to The Marshgate Group for development just over nineteen months ago.

Cllr Kevin Bowers, Cabinet Member for Resources and Performance at Braintree District Council, said: “We’re proud to have played our part in unlocking this employment site to investment and growth and we’re thrilled with how our work with partners is supporting medium-sized businesses with their expansion plans as well as supporting residents with jobs and opportunities. Congratulations to the team on the completion of these high-quality commercial units and for reaching yet another important milestone.”

Property agents Coke Gearing and Knight Frank have already successfully secured three tenants for the new development. There are now only six units left on the market to let.
